I love the audio and sound effects, but I personally usually have them down to listen to music of my own.

I go back and forth between the two.

I play with sound off, mainly because I like it quiet, so I don't play any music.

Do you play RS with sound/music enabled or disabled?

-I almost always have sound and music disabled. The only real exceptions are for when I have other windows up, or am reading a book etc, then I have sound effects on to help warn of randoms and such.

Have you a favourite sound effect, area sound or piece of music?

-Nothing comes to mind, but I honestly haven't given it much chance.

Are there any ways you think the sound could be improved?

-More subtle environmental sounds perhaps? When I do have sound on, it doesn't always seem to balance well with the surroundings, and it feels like it is sometimes taking away from the gaming experience. For example, adventuring through a dark gloomy area and slowly a high pitched flute noise starts chiming in with various clicky noises, doesn't quite fit the mood(to me)

If you turn RS sound off, what changes could convince you to start using it again?

-Pretty much just what I said above :P
I may just be spoilt with my all my console RPGs though. :)
Perhaps take a look at popular console RPGs and observe more of how they implement sounds and music throughout.

Thanks :)

Maybe give us the option to add our own Music to the list?

I'm going to be a bit straight forward. Runescape music and sounds are horrible in my opinion. I have never been able to stand them for longer then 10 minutes.

The music is a bit irritating and repetitive, half the time i can not tell the difference between some songs because they sound familiar. And also very boring.

The area sounds also can be annoying, for instance pets and other random sounds you hear around you. I usually never play with these on.

The attack sounds for weapon definitely need to be improved. The sound weapons make when they hit and miss are horrible.

Also possibly making it so when you hit an amount thats higher it makes a different sound then when you hit lower, this might be hard to implement. Hitting 0 could be one sound, then 1 - 10 is another then 11 - 20 is another, etc.

We did not have to follow your template did we? It states "For Example" , not that we must follow it.

I play with sound off, I tend to listen to other music instead. I don't know if I'd consider turning it on. I've heard from friends it has improved though.

<><>
Mostly disabled. No offense to the Audio teams, but I find metal more to my liking for 99% of the things I do (but I do keep the sounds on because of randoms and the like).:P

Have you a favourite sound effect, area sound or piece of music?

Summers Bane and the Alternative Root/Route of All Evil/Route of the Problem are the only ones I can think of.

Are there any ways you think the sound could be improved?
<><>
The only thing I can think of (for music at least) is to make it fit the mood/setting. Something like in the Final Fantasy/Castlevania games.

If you turn RS sound off, what changes could convince you to start using it again?

My answer is pretty much similar to what I said to the last question, but to add on to it, the music could be less repetitive. :P

I play with all the sound off.

The reason being I dislike the sound effects as they are very very repetitive and quite frankly just get a bit annoying.... I also dont favour the music but I dont mind it... Just it reminds me of the days when I was a little noob :)

You would have to add alot of new sound effects to get me playing the sound effects again as it is too repetitive at the moment. Music is okay I just like my personal music better :)

P.S I just thought what about like a favourites list where you could put all of the music you like (to a limit) Some peoples like set music... Or maybe a shuffle Option.? I don't Know but the music is sometimes too chirpy for certain places.

Do you play RS with sound/music enabled or disabled? \
---It depends. Sometimes I listen to my MP3s

Have you a favourite sound effect, area sound or piece of music?
---Yes, when you attack a spirit sheild. SO FUNNY. :P

If you turn RS sound off, what changes could convince you to start using it again?
---If i just want to hear it when i get bored of my MP3s and sometimes I like the music.

--Do you play RS with sound/music enabled or disabled?

Enabled, almost always.

--Have you a favourite sound effect, area sound or piece of music?

My favorites pieces of music are: Undead Dungeon, Tale of Keldagrim, The Sound of Guthix, Safety in Numbers...and a lot more.

--Are there any ways you think the sound could be improved?

It would be awesome to me, as a musician, if there could be more dynamics in the music. Sometimes its a bit softer, sometimes its a bit louder, but there's no contrast. I LIVE for contrast!

--If you turn RS sound off, what changes could convince you to start using it again?

Its usually on, but see above ^

I used to run a compliments thread on the music - I'm sure the Audio guys remember me - so I'm really happy to see a Sticky like this ^_^
