Alright, so I have an antagonist who I need to develop. Right now, I have a sort of rough idea...

Basically, he's supposed to embody the complete OPPOSITE of my main character, except retaining the witty sense. Sort of The Master to The Doctor. (Doctor Who reference there.) So here's what I've thought up so far-

-He loves unnecessary violence and bloodshed.
-Unlike Rinion, who has a venemous tongue that can HURT people, his very voice entrances people and makes them do what he wants.
-He's a tactical genius.
-He's from a corrupted race of early human-like creatures that were eradicated by their creator (Z'rene, who just happens to be Rinion's "master";), and therefore harbors intense hatred of the gods.

So... What would his aim BE? To conquer the world, or to solely slay the gods? (NOTE: He teams up with Rinion later on in the story to topple the gods for unexplained reason.)

first i must say this.
DOCTOR WHO!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

ermm... the doctor is a big inspiration for my writing. Tom Baker is the best, but this is beside the point.

you character. their aim can define them. conquer the world implies power hungry. if you want him to be under lying good, such as, he thinks he knows best for people, this may be a good idea. however it can still be used if you want him just that sort of evil. lol.

the Master's goal usually entailed needling the doctor. it all depends on your main character's over all goal. to be honest, i don't know enough about your story to help. over all plot and goal of the main character? rules of the world?
maybe i missed it somewhere earlier in the thread. lol. I'll check.

btw, i am working on the antagonist. or antagonistic force. i like the plague idea. but i like the great war incorporated into the leaking magic also. i'll think about it.

My main character's goal here is to restore peace, no matter what happens. Basically, he wants to fix this up and just go home. The realm is a sort of parody of Middle Earth, mixed with a bit of Gielinor. The writing style is much like Terry Prachett.

Hmmm.... conquer the world sounds good. make life miserable for the protagonist. oppose him at every turn. obviously, i don't understand the full relationship between these characters. how obviously opposed they are, or what ever deceit you want to incorporate. but i think conquering the world is a nice, simple goal. lol

Does it make sense that I love to write but don't like to read?

Yep. Same here. Hate to read. Only read (willingly) Terry Prachett or Tolkien. Everything else, my mum forces me to read. (For example, school reading.)

honestly i love to read. i hate getting started, but i love it once i am into it.

btw, does anyone else here find it helpful to listen to music while they write? not just your favorite songs, but songs that fit the current event in your story?

I love listening to music as I write. Gets me in the mood. I only listen to compositions, though, not songs. Lyrics distract me.
