Hi everyone,

Today at 20:00 (8pm BST/official forum time) Mod Kelvin (Head of Community Management), Mod Paul M (Community Management Unit Leader) and Mod Catia (Localised Player Support Unit Leader) will be answering your questions about RuneScape community management in a live Q&A session.

You can post your questions on this thread, which will be unlocked a few minutes before the session starts.

This thread will be for questions only - you can see the answers that are given by checking this thread.

In addition to this live Q&A session, the Community Management team have already answered some questions posed on our forums, you can find these questions and answers on this thread.

If you are considering asking a question at the live Q&A session today - it would be a good idea to check first that it has not already been answered!

So, good luck to everyone hoping to get a question answered today!

Hi, I've noticed you being more active in the forums lately, and for that, thankyou. My questions are:
1) Are people in Jagex HQ at all times?
2) Did you read my post in the "Are you player focused thread"?
3) Any way I can know how many hours I have played on my account? And is there a feature going to be added for this soon?

Just a small question:
How often do Player Moderators/Forum Moderators get picked?

Thank you

Are players able to edit their application of interest in the ‘Are you community focused?’ thread?
And have any players been invited from that thread yet?

I want to know if you could stop choosing dead serious player moderators and chose people who the community
could actually appreciate. You seem to only choose people who spend their whole life playing your game.

There are rumours that the PMods and FMods would get a chance to play the closed beta of MechScape before its release to the rest of the players...so just wanted to confirm is this true?

Hello CM team,

I would first like to thank you all for taking the time to do a Q & A. I have a number of questions which involve community my questions might spread over three separate posts.

With your recent developments of the “Are you community focused” topic & the development blog, it suggested you were looking at recruiting more PMods in a different way to which you usually recruited them. The number of PMods now has vastly increased to the number it use to be, is there ever a point or a number in which you feel that you have enough volunteer moderators to stop recruiting in such heavy extremes?

I also noticed a higher number of dual moderators, from my understanding these are players who have already had one role before what is your approach if any of ever giving someone who hasn’t been a moderator before the invites to becoming both player & forum moderator, is that ever likely or possible? What is the likelihood of a player getting a dual moderator invite if they haven’t been a moderator before?

Since the implementation of the “Are you community focused” topic there has been a wider influence of players hosting community focused topics over forums. Do you feel that having a player recommend themselves to being a PMod is a good idea as a lot of individuals can change their approach in order to becoming a PMod and increasing the number of “Wbms” who really are just trying to get a crown more then help out the community. What is your approach to this view and was this actually a plan to see more community topics on forums, regardless of player intentions to help or not?

Okay so I have a few questions:

-Do you have any plans on making pets useful? Such as providing a bonus to combat/skills or anything in that nature?
-What ever happened to Prifddinas? Is there an update or did Jagex forget about it?
-Are you aware that to use agility brawlers, you have to be in a PvP world and can't use them in a Bounty Hunter world because it says you can't use the agility training course in a Bounty Hunter world? This means if you want to use agility brawlers you have to risk them because PvP worlds aren't +1.
-I currently have 99 Construction and am wondering if you are planning on adding any new monsters/lowering prices for monsters in a dungeon? 10m for a monster that if using the right equipment can do no damage whatsoever to your guests isn't really worth it to me

RuneScape is such a diverse game with a lot of communities, which communities have you guys been trying to focus on mostly? Is there any particular communities? There are some communities which are strong, some that can be worked on player participation is vital in having a strong community which communities would you like to see improve? I know a lot has been trying to focus on Free to play and also Forums, is there any others that are worth mentioning?

The Machinima competition was a huge success and brought a lot of players together; are there any plans to make competitions like these a more regular feature?

Which skills / qualities are important or would you need to working in Community Management?

What are your policies on inviting players with past offences? For example if you have quashed offences, successful appeals, expired / successful appeals. Would you consider that because their account has had a number of problems they wouldn’t be suitable or would you see it as that there account really wasn’t to blame & it was a mistake on Jagex’s part to giving these offences? Successful & quashed offences show up on account details which can be misleading. How would you view something like this?

Ideas & question response

After seeing J-Mod surgerys and a greater participation of J-Mod to players what an idea of having J-Mod run clans like they have on FunOrb? I know it’s extremely successful on FunOrb and don’t see why it wouldn’t work out on RuneScape.

Do you think that having a security code like a bank pin on runescape but to login to forums would help the security of players forum accounts? A lot of forum accounts seem to get hijacked, especially ones which hold confidential information. What is your view on this & increasing forum security?
